birth support

It is hard to describe what doula support looks like in the tender space of birth. For many people, a doula is there to provide concrete care. This might look like hands-on support, offering sips of water, or building up a pillow nest for you to rest between contractions. For others, it is the doula's scope of knowledge that brings comfort. I am there to offer positions and movements if needed, to consult about choices around pain management or labour augmentation, and to normalize what is happening (or flag if something isn't right). Above all, my role is to hold space for the hard work you are doing to bring your baby here, breathing alongside you and offering the deepest respect and encouragement.

My birth support includes:

  • 3 prenatal visits to talk about your birth wishes, what to expect during labour and delivery, and your plan for postpartum wellness

  • On-call from 37 weeks, able to get to you within an hour of your call

  • On-going text/phone support up to one month after delivery

  • Continuous support from when you call me to a few hours after delivery

  • Use of TENS machine and peanut ball, if desired

  • 3 postpartum visits to debrief your birth experience, receive care, and learn about caring for yourself and your new little one

prenatal preparation

Feeling overwhelmed by the amount of contradictory information on birth and babies? Unsure of what you don't know, and what you might need to know? Feeling a bit untethered in your pregnancy? Prenatal preparation is a combination of prenatal education, planning, and connecting to help you feel grounded and at ease as you move into birth and postpartum.

We will draw from a balance of evidence-based information and your own intuition and values. Our sessions might involve some art making, games, and hands-on practice—it's not a lecture! We will learn at your pace, and in styles that work for you.

Prenatal preparation includes:

  • Sessions on birth, postpartum, infant feeding, and newborn care -- as well as anything else that is important to you!

  • Custom digital resource package

  • Recommendations for local practitioners, groups, and services

This offering is available virtually or in-person. Families welcoming a baby through adoption or surrogacy are welcome, and may wish to focus preparation on newborn care and transitioning into parenthood.
